RCMP respond to bomb threat Thursday in Vernon

A 51-year-old local resident has been arrested after the Lake City Casino in Vernon received a bomb threat Thursday morning.

At approximately 11:15 a.m. Vernon RCMP received a report of a bomb threat at the Lake City Casino. 

Police investigation has learned the incident started when a patron was being refused service and was in the process of being evicted from the premises.

The casino was evacuated immediately, as well as several neighboring businesses. In all between 100 to 150 people were directly affected. Several other businesses in the area were advised to keep staff to the front of the buildings.

Traffic was shut down on Anderson Way and lane between business in the area for about an hour and a half in the interest of public safety while police and staff were able to assess the threat situation.

The Vernon resident was taken into custody and is expected to face charges of Uttering threats.
