Motorcycle rider flown to Calgary following accident in Kicking Horse Canyon
A female motorcycle rider is in Foothills Hospital in Calgary after losing control of her ride Wednesday in Kicking Horse Canyon near Golden B.C.
Golden RCMP, Trans Canada East Traffic Services along with Emergency Health Services and Golden Fire Rescue units were called at 2:15 p.m. MDT to attend to the report of a motorcycle crash on the TransCanada Highway.
Upon arrival a female rider was located near the center line of the roadway at the east end of Kicking Horse Canyon.
RCMP continue to investigate the collision but can confirm the female rider was alone on the motorcycle and traveling with two other motorcycles.
The rider was traveling westbound and had just completed one sharp curve and was negotiating a second curve when the motorcycle left the roadway coming into contact with the cement barriers on the westbound shoulder. The motorcycle then went down and slid along the highway for approximately 17 meters until it stopped in the middle of the road.
The female rider was transported to hospital in Golden with possible head injuries and is currently being transported by STARS Air Ambulance to Foothills Hospital in Calgary.
The Trans Canada Highway was closed for a short period of time while the motorcycle rider was being cared for and transported by Ambulance.
