Rafting victim identified
The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of the woman who died following a whitewater rafting accident on Saturday, June 23.
Mary Patricia Thibault, aged 50, of Calgary, Alberta died during a venture of about 40 customers on a commercial whitewater rafting operation on Kicking Horse River about 20 kilometres east of Golden.
At about 3 p.m., the raft in which Thibault was riding — one of five in the group — overturned, throwing Thibault, seven other passengers and a guide into the river.
All were rescued quickly and Thibault was immediately transported to hospital in Golden, but she could not be revived. The BC Coroners Service and the RCMP are continuing to investigate this death.
