Nelson Fire Department responds to early morning false alarm at Prestige
Guests at the Prestige Inn Lakeside Resort experienced an earlier than usual wake up call when fire alarms sounded at 6 a.m. forcing patrons out of their rooms and into the parking lot.
“Someone on the second floor said when they heard the alarm they heard someone running down the hallway,” said guest Mona Mattei.
“I was actually surprised at how long it took for people to leave the building, many seemed to take the time to get dressed and pack.
“Those of us out first were very cold and gratefully accepted the warmth of coffee from the coffee bar at the hotel while waiting.”
Nelson Fire Department received the call at 6 a.m. and responded to the waterfront resort with one truck.
After quickly assessing the scene, the acting fire chielf ruled the call a false alarm.
After giving the okay, patrons were allowed back into their rooms to start the day a little earlier than originally scheduled.
