An aspiring golfer from Nanaimo had his clubs stolen one day before a qualifying golf tournament.

The 15-year-old Nanaimo youth  had just finished a round of golf at the Nanaimo Golf and Country Club on Friday May 25th when the incident occurred. He left his clubs near the Pro shop and was practicing on the nearby putting green when his clubs were taken.

A check of the video surveillance system showed an unknown male taking the clubs at 7:49 p.m.

The golf bag taken was a red and black Ogio that contained the following clubs: Taylor made R11 driver, Ping S56 irons, Cleaveland putter, 2 Titilest  wedges, Ping 3 wood and an Adams hybrid.

Needless to say, the youth was devastated as he was preparing to play in a qualifying tournament the following day.

The Golf and Country Club lent him a set of irons to play with and he ended up placing second and qualified for the BC Junior Amateur golf tournament which will be held later this summer.

The suspect is described as a First Nations male between 40-50 years of age. He was wearing a white baseball hat, dark colored hoodie, dark shorts and  white runners with white socks. He was last seen running through the parking lot with the golf clubs on his shoulders.
