Team Mountain Spirit got a lot closer to its goal of participating in the 2012 “Ride To Conquer Cancer” last weekend during a bike-a-thon held a variety of places in Nelson.

Members of the Team Mountain Spirit set up shop at Roam, Sacred Ride, Gerick’s and the B.C. Liquor store for a day of riding.

Thanks to the generous support of the community the bike-a-thon raised $1,250.

The Ride to Conquer Cancer, which is a two-day bike-riding event from Vancouver to Seattle, is approximately a 260-kilometer distance.

This year the rise has 3000 people entered and should be an inspiring time for Team Mountain Spirit.

Each member of the 13-person Team Mountain Spirit must obtain $2500 in donations to participate. All the money raised go towards cancer research and benefits different types of Cancer treatment centers.
