Crowsnest man dies in off-road motocross accident
A 21-year-old Crowsnest Pass man has died following an off-road motocross accident south west of Fernie.
Monday (April 2) at approximately 4:15 p.m., the Elk Valley RCMP responded to a motor vehicle accident near Lake Koocanusa approximately 75 kilometers south west of Fernie.
The investigation has revealed that two motocross bikes had collided head on with one of the riders succumbing to his injuries and dying at the scene of the accident.
The group of individuals was from Alberta and were in the area riding motocross bikes on some of the back country trails.
The investigation has further revealed that both riders were ascending up opposite sides of the same hill and collided upon reaching the top.
All riders were experienced in the operation of motocross bikes and all were wearing protective riding gear.
The police have ruled out foul play and will continue to work in assisting the British Columbia Coroners Service with their investigation.
