Busy week for Salmo RCMP

RCMP responded to reports of uninsured dirtbikes, a liquor seizure and a near fatal accident last week in Salmo.

Saturday, police were called to a report of dirtbike operators spinning gravel towards doors and windows at the Salmo High School.

Police have been called to at least two incidents.

Dirtbikes should remain on designated trails and if located on public roadways can be issued a no Insurance fine for $598.

Anybody with information in regards to this file is asked to call the Salmo RCMP at 250-357-2212.

Also Saturday, officers located some local youth and an adult with open liquor on the High School grounds.

A case of beer was destroyed at the scene along with other open liquor. Fines for consuming liquor in public are $230 to each person consuming.

Near fatal crash avoided by quickly thinking driver

On Thursday (April 26) a driver was charged for passing on a double solid line that caused an another driver to crash trying avoid a head on collision.

The incident happened near the rest area on Highway 3 outside of Salmo.

Drivers are reminded to pass within the posted speed limit and only pass when legal to do so.

Tragedy was averted in this instance due to the quick reaction of the oncoming vehicle.
