Two young people dead in Maple Ridge Sunday morning crash
Ridge Meadows Traffic Services and the RCMP Lower Mainland District’s Integrated Crash Analyst Reconstruction Services (ICARS) are investigating a two vehicle crash that has claimed the lives of two young people Sunday morning.
The crash occurred at approximately 2:25 a.m. on Dewdney Trunk Road and Dunbar Street.
A green Dodge van collided with a blue Honda car. The van had three young males in it, while the Honda had three young females in it.
The driver of the van, and a passenger in the Honda have been pronounced dead. The other four people remain in hospital with serious injuries.
“To lose two young local people is devastating.” said Sergeant Dale Somerville, the NCO in charge of Ridge Meadows RCMP Traffic Services.
“Our sincere condolences go out to the two families. Our investigation into the crash is in its initial phase. Due to the ages of the people involved in this, Ridge Meadows RCMP’s Youth Resource Officers will be working with School District 42 to ensure appropriate counseling is in place. We ask anyone who may have witnessed this crash, and has not yet spoken to police, to come forward.”
The names of the deceased are being withheld at this time pending notification of the next of kin. Police were assisted by members of the Maple Ridge Fire Department and B.C. Ambulance Service.
