Three games before playoffs as Leafs play out string on KIJHL regular season
It’s come down to three games for the Nelson Leafs to work out the bugs prior to the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League post season.
The Green and White travel to Grand Forks Thursday to begin the final stretch run before concluding the season with a home-and-home series against Murdoch winning Beaver Valley Nitehawks.
The Bruins have struggled against the Leafs, along with other teams in the KIJHL, having just one win this season — and no victories at home.
However, the Bruins came within an overtime goal by Uriah Machuga of breaking the goosegg Tuesday against the Spokane Braves, a team that has beaten the Leafs a few times this season.
Affiliate goalie Cameron Macpherson of Nakusp is expected to be in goal tonight with Andrew Walton still out of town. Walton will return for the first game of the playoffs against Castlegar Rebels.
Backup goalie Patrick Defoe will be back between the pipes for both Beaver Valley games.
Nelson enters the game relatively healthy with only center Matti Jmaeff doubtful for the weekend after experiencing a concussion during Saturday’s game against Castlegar.
Game time for the final home game of the regular season is 7 p.m. Friday at the NDCC Arena.
