Man dies after being assaulted at concert

On February 14, 2012, at approximately 9:30 pm the Dawson Creek RCMP received a complaint of a fight at a music concert being held at the Encana Event Center.

The fight involved five people. When one of the victims fell to the ground the assault continued until a civilian intervened to break up the fight.

The 28-year-old victim was found unconscious by event security and paramedics. He was transported to the Dawson Creek Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The second victim is cooperating with police and suffered non life threatening injuries.

Three suspects were subsequently located and arrested in a different drinking establishment.

They are currently in custody at the Dawson Creek RCMP detachment. North District Major Crime Unit and the Fort St. John Forensic Identification Unit are on scene investigating the serious offence.

” At this stage we believe the three males had an altercation with the two victims.” Stated Cst. Lesley Smith North District Media Relations Officer.

“The assault continued into the men’s washroom where one of the victims was found seriously injured. He has since succumbed to his injuries. “
