Bombers, Wildcats co-host Sr Girls Hoop tourney beginning Friday

Coming off a third-place tourney finish a week ago, the L.V. Rogers Bombers return to the court to co-host the Senior Girl’s Basketball Kootenay Klassic High School Girl’s Basketball Tournament at the Hangar and Mount Sentinel gymnaisum.

Ironically, it was the Wildcats the Bombers defeated 51-28 in the consolation final at Mount Sentinel Saturday.

Jayden Roch, game MVP for the Bombers, Kiandra McLaren and Sam Einarson, with 12 and 11 points, respectively, led the Bombers.

LVR opened with a 61-48 win over Golden Eagles. Melinda Hastead was named game MVP while Einarson and McLaren led the Bombers with 11 and 10 points.

The short-staffed Bombers lost in the semi final of the tourney to Rossland Royals.

Kylie Mirva was a work horse for LVR, playing the entire game at the guard position.

Einarson scored 12 points to lead the Bombers while Devyn Parker added eight.

First game for LVR is 7 p.m. at the Hangar against the winner of Golden and Prince Charles Comets of Creston. The Bombers had a bye in the first game.

Meanwhile, at Mount Sentinel, the host Cats meet Salmo Falcons at noon.

Other teams entered in the tournament are Rossland and Nakusp.

The final is set for noon at the Hangar.

At the same time Mount Sentinel hosts the consolation final.
