Bomb threat at Williams Lake 7-Eleven

February 26th, 2012

Williams Lake RCMP were called to the local 7-Eleven store after a report of a bomb threat Thursday.

At approximately 7 p.m.  the RCMP was called after receiving a call.

Although no bomb or similar device was observed, the RCMP took the precaution of evacuating the 7-Eleven and neighbouring premise.

The Williams Lake Fire Department and Police Dog Services from Prince George were called to the scene to assist.

After a thorough search of the building and immediate area the incident was determined to be a hoax.  The RCMP are continuing their investigation in efforts to identify the culprit who initiated the threat.
“The RCMP takes these threats extremely seriously and intend to criminally charge those who are involved in making a false report,” said Insp. Warren Brown Officer in Charge of Williams Lake Detachment.

“This is a very poor and unfortunate use of emergency resources as well as the inconvenience it causes to businesses and the community as a whole.”

If you have any knowledge or are aware of anyone involved in this or similar type incidents, I would strongly encourage you to contact the Williams Lake RCMP to assist us. We can be reached at (250) 392-6211 or alternatively, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
