Grayson Arabia stole the show, stealing the ball 10 times to help the L.V. Rogers Junior Bombers thrash rival Stanley Humphries Rockers 52-17 in West Kootenay High School Junior Boy’s Basketball action Wednesday at the Hangar.

The win was the second time in less than a week the Bombers defeated the Rockers.

“Our full court pressure was our strength tonight, our ability to get the other team to turn the ball over,” said Junior Bomber coach Steve Montgomery.

“Once the ball was in play, we either pressured the ball or we pushed it hard at them  — especially guards Grayson Arabia, Bean Howard, Avery Kushner, Lucas Burrows and Cole Sutherland.”

LVR led 10-2 four minutes into the game and never looked back. The Bombers held a 22-2 first quarter lead.

Seven players hit the score sheet with Arabia leading the attack with 14 points  — 10 of which came in the fourth.

Shota Ida had 10 points while Ethan Perkins and Bean Howard had eight and seven points, respectively.

“Our guys were really quick tonight on D,” Montgomery said. “I was concerned about not having Tobin (Eberle) tonight, but the team really picked up their game.”

Eberle did not play in the contest.

The Junior Bombers face a huge test this weekend at the annual LVR tournament at the Hangar.

“That big Trail squad will be a real challenge this weekend, as will Golden on Saturday,” Montgomery explained.

LVR plays J. Lloyd Crowe (Friday, 2 p.m.), Golden Eagles (Saturday 11 a.m.) and Rossland Saturday (5 p.m.)

There is also a four-team girl’s tournament at the same time.

The LVR Junior Girls play Crowe Friday at 3:30 p.m., Kimberley at 12:30 p.m. and Castlegar at 6:30 p.m.

All action is at the LVR Hangar.
