LVR students win debate zones, now off to provincials
The sport of debating got a big boost after two L.V. Rogers students topped the zone and qualified for the provincial tournament.
Tia Huttemann and Eja Loponen Stephenson placed first overall in the Grade 9 competition during a tournament Saturday at Trail’s J. Lloyd Crowe High School.
The provincials are set for March 3-4.
To prep the girls for the upcoming provincial competition, LVR is hosting its first debate tournament in eight years February 4 at the Fairview school.
Organizers need moderators (students preferred–chance to earn volunteer hours, grads) and judges (interested parents and community members) to pull of the tournament.
The LVR tournament runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
