Cranbrook resident dead after New Year's Day accident
A 21-year-old female is the first fatal accident of 2012 in Cranbrook.
RCMP and East Kootenay Traffic Services responded to vehicle collision in the Mission Road area of Cranbrook at 5 am New Year’s Day where a 2006 Dodge Durango was traveling southbound lost control and hit the ditch.
The vehicle rolled and one of the passengers was ejected from the vehicle. The 21 yr old Cranbrook resident was pronounced dead at the scene.
Four other occupants of the vehicle received minor injuries.
The collision is still under investigation and it is believed that speed and alcohol played a role in this incident.
