Credit Union supports legacy funding at local hospital foundations
Nelson & District Credit Union has been a staunch believer in legacy funding since the creation of its board of directors-inspired Community Investment Program over a decade ago.
Since then, the Credit Union has directed over $2.5 million to local volunteers and community organizations to help fulfill their needs, with close to $400,000 of that going directly to local foundations between Rossland and the East Shore of Kootenay Lake.
On Friday, Dec. 2, employees presented cheques to the legacy funds of Kootenay Lake Hospital Foundation and Kootenay-Boundary Regional Hospital Foundation totalling $20,000.
On behalf of the Nelson & District Credit Union members, each foundation received $10,000 in support to maintain the exceptional level of health care we all receive in the West Kootenay.
“Credit unions have a history of helping, and by contributing to foundation legacy funds such as these, we assist in maintaining sustainable and remarkable levels of health care in our region,” states Tom Murray, senior manager of operations at Nelson & District Credit Union.
Nelson & District Credit Union was established in 1950 and has grown to over $160 million in assets and serves over 12,500 members throughout the West Kootenay area.
