KCR AGM: not your usual dull, languid affair

October 4th, 2011

Kootenay Co-op Radio invites all members and interested public to attend the 2011 annual general meeting in the education room at Community First Health Co-op, 518 Lake St. on Wednesday, Oct. 19  (6:30 pm social meet and greet; 7 pm start time).

Despite conventional wisdom that has general meetings as dull, languid affairs, KCR’s AGMs always prove to be entertaining and invigorating.

They will discuss financial affairs, elect a new board of directors and celebrate the accomplishments of the co-op.

The core catalyst of a co-op is the involvement of members and volunteers working together towards a common goal, and in this case the goal is to continue providing a grassroots voice and reflection of our community on local airwaves.

They broadcast as CJLY 93.5 fm Nelson, 107.5 fm New Denver, 96.5 fm Crawford Bay/Kootenay Lake and 101.5fm rebroadcast southern Slocan Valley.

KCR is actively seeking people to join their board of directors. If you are passionate about your community and support the concept of citizen-run media, then please consider giving KCR some of your valuable volunteer time.

Experience with finance, fundraising and consensus-based decision making will help, but enthusiasm is most important. As a director, you will have opportunity to work with fellow directors to maintain the financial health of our co-op as well as helping shape future policy and strategy to guide our co-op into the future.

For more information, send email questions to board@cjly.net or call Jay (250) 352-9600.
