Soliciting written comments on sale of Crown land in Nelson
The following is a request from the Save Red Sands Beach group on the potential sale of Crown waterfront land to the Nelson Landing developer:
We are protecting Nelson’s waterfront parkland.
We, the people of BC, currently own three acres of Crown land on the eastern waterfront of the City of Nelson. We believe this land:
- should not be sold to a private developer. (We want the Crown land to remain public property and to continue to be zoned as P2 – park and open space.)
- should be remediated in order to protect the environment.
Recently, FrontCounter BC has accepted an application made by the Nelson Landing Development Corporation Ltd. (applicant: David Sorensen www.nelsonlanding.com) of Bowen Island on behalf of the Ministry of Forests, Lands, and Natural Resource Operations (MFLNRO), Kootenay Region, for a License of Occupation – Leading to a Crown Grant.
Written comments concerning this application should be directed to the Natural Resource Officer at FrontCounter BC, 1902 Theatre Road, Cranbrook, BC V1C 7G1, or email to AuthorizingAgency.Cranbrook@gov.bc.ca .
