Three generations of family arrested in grow op bust

May 5th, 2011

Three generations of a family in a small B.C. Interior community have been arrested after police say they found an extensive marijuana grow operation.

The family is alleged to have been growing more than 2,200 plants on two properties in Falkland, about 60 kilometres north of Kelowna.

“The persons arrested here do include grandparents, who are in their late 70s, their children that are mid-50s, along with those children’s children … who are in their early 20s,” said RCMP Cpl. Dan Moskaluk.

A small helicopter was found in an outbuilding on the property, but police said they did not believe it would become part of the investigation.

The grandparents and one of the parents have been charged with possession and production of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.

Moskaluk said further charges are being considered against other family members.
