For the Birds, Dirty Grace, Boo Dee, intermission surprise

@ Ellison’s, Saturday, May 28, 12-3 p.m.

This will be the last show of the season for the Unplugged Sessions.

Opening at noon is local Boo Dee, a superb musician. He will be followed by another intermission surprise.

Marley Daemon and Betty Supple are Dirty Grace, an artsy-folk/sassy-swing duo from Victoria.

For the Birds is a musical collective comprised of three seasoned female singer-songwriters. Nelson’s Aspen Switzer, Elaine Ryan and Genevieve Rainey met through a competition to play on Sarah McLachlan’s Lilith tour. All of them ranked in the top six of the Vancouver contest.

Presenting their songs in an “in the round” format, these talented musicians blend their voices to create soulful harmonies and back each other up on guitar and percussion.

This year’s tour presents Switzer, Ryan and Rainey. Kim McMechan (www.kimmcmechan.com), a founding collective member, will be joining them for several shows.

Band members:

  • Elaine Ryan (www.elaineryan.ca)
  • Aspen Switzer (www.aspenswitzer.com)
  • Genevieve Rainey (www.myspace.com/genevieverainey)
  • Kim McMechan (www.kimmcmechan.com)

Come early as seating is limited.
