Some real seedy events this weekend
Seedy Sunday
Sunday, March 13, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Legion Hall, Nelson
The West Kootenay EcoSociety invites all seed swappers, conservers, developers and newcomers to save, sow, swap and sell local, non-hybrid, organic seeds at the annual Seedy Sunday event on March 13 located upstairs at the Legion (403 Victoria St) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
This is your opportunity to learn how to start seeds for your own garden, reduce your carbon footprint, protect plant biodiversity, obtain local knowledge, and meet people who share the same interest in growing food.
Vendor tabling and admission is by donation, registration is not required but encouraged. Any questions or further inquiry, contact Angel at angel@ecosociety.ca or 354-1909.

Movie night showing The World According to Monsanto at 7 p.m. Beverages and snacks for sale.

Seedy Saturday with local seed companies and artisans vending.
There will also be a space to trade your seed with other gardeners, a barter list and two demonstrations: one on seed starting; another on proper pruning of cherry and apple trees, focusing on equipment maintenance, cleanliness of tools and what and when to prune.

Seedy Saturday
Saturday, March 12, 1-4 p.m. at the Creston New Life Church, 1821 Elm
This afternoon event begins with a workshop on the topics of seed saving, storing, cleaning and growing.
Following the workshop, a seed exchange and sale will be held where local seed savers will sell and trade seeds which are open pollinated and have become adapted to local conditions.
Admission is by donation.
Sponsored by the College of the Rockies Community Greenhouse.
