The City of Nelson is going behind closed doors this month to host two meetings — Jan. 11 and Jan. 18 — to discuss utility rates for this year.

The City has made it know they could be considering a change to the way they charge for the service they extend to businesses.

These are closed meetings, however, they do consider all input from property and business owners.

In a meeting last month, some on City council were against putting meters in businesses and residences, even though many business in the city favour metering.

The city has 789 commercial accounts and allegedly collected over $1 million from those accounts last year.
