Snow tips for Nelson
With winter nearby, there is a protocol for residents when it comes to snow removal on Nelson’s streets.
In regards to street parking and snow removal, on odd numbered days people are asked to park on odd numbered streets, parking on the even numbered side of the streets on even days.
People are asked to keep parked care clear of snow for easy visibility for plow operators. According to bylaw, vehicles cannot be parked on city streets for more than 72 consecutive hours.
People are asked not to shovel snow from a sidewalk, boulevard or driveway onto a plowed street. It is the responsibility of business owners to remove the snow on the sidewalk adjacent to their businesses before 11 a.m. each day, except Sundays and holidays.
When driving around the city during severe winter conditions, try to follow the transit bus route. These routes get first priority for plowing and sanding.
