Right place, right time
MLA Michelle Mungall happened to be in the right place at the right time last week as a national treasure rolled by her at Vancouver International Airport.
The Stanley Cup, on its way to filming a commercial, appeared before an awestruck Mungall who had been busy attending to her luggage.
“I was so surprised to see it roll by that I decided to follow the Cup and I was lucky enough to get my photograph taken with it,” said Mungall.
The Stanley Cup started out in 1893 as a bowl awarded to the top amateur hockey team in Canada. In this country and the United States, the Cup has been given as much star status as the players in the NHL who vie for the trophy each spring.
“To touch the same cup as the best players in North America is really pretty cool,” stated Mungall.
The photograph of the MLA with the trophy can be seen proudly displayed on her website at www.michellemungall.ca<http://www.michellemungall.ca>.
