Down to final races on High School Cross Country scene

It’s down to the final races on the West Kootenay High School Cross Country season.

Teams from throughout region will be at the Camp Busk Ski Trails south of Nelson for the West Kootenay Championships.

The race, hosted by the Salmo Falcons, begins at 4 p.m. with the Junior Boys and Girls Final. The three-kilometer distance is for Grades 6-8.

At 4:30 p.m. the Senior Boy and Girl’s determine the champions of the zone. The Senior Girl’s race is a 4.5-kilometer distance while the Senior Boy’s is a seven-kilometer run.

Teams from Trafalgar and L.V. Rogers in Nelson, Salmo, Mount Sentinel in South Slocan, J. V. Humphries of Kaslo, Lucerne of New Denver are expected to attend.

Also joining the race is competitors from Prince Charles in Creston.
Although the Prince Charles results will not be counted as the runners are from the East Kootenay.

The top runners get a chance to do it all over again Wednesday, October 27 when the Camp Busk Trails hosts the Kootenay Championships.

The top finishers qualify for the B.C. High School Cross Country Championships November 6th at Oak Bay in Victoria.
