The Vernon Panthers shot 36 percent from the field to defeat the L.V. Rogers Bombers 65-40 in consolation round action at the BC High School AAA Boy's Basketball Tournament Thursday at the Events Centre in Langley.

The L.V. Rogers came within a whisker of making it all the way on the West Kootenay Junior Boy’s Basketball circuit.

The Bombers, starting the season off slow, rallied in the late stages and pushed eventual champion Mount Sentinel Wildcats right to the end before losing by a couple of points in semi final action.

Caledonia of Terrace out scored LVR 35-15 in the second half en route to a 53-32 victory over the L.V. Rogers Bombers Saturday at the BC High School AA Girl's Basketball Championships at the Events Centre in Langley.

The Selkirk Saints have once again commenced their march to the BC Intercollegiate Hockey League Championship.

Fernie took home bragging rights after capturing the Kootenay Cup Nordic Ski crown recently at the Nelson Nordic Ski Trails south of Nelson in Apex.

Fernie won the title following the final Kootenay Cup Ski race of the season.

The East Kootenay Club totaled 338 points, edging Kimberley by 30 points.
