Douglas Neil Williams

Douglas Neil Williams peacefully passed away in his sleep on August 2nd, 2017 in his home in Stittsville, Ont., at the age of 76.

He was born on May 31st 1941 in Niagara Falls, Ont. to parents George Williams and Lillian Gorham. He graduated from John Marshall Public School, Stanford CVI, and A.N. Myer Secondary School with the RCAF.

He went on to spend the majority of his aviation career as a Pilot and Base Manager of Okanagan, Canadian and Kokanee Helicopters in Nelson, BC – a city and community of friends and colleagues that remained forever dear to his heart. Doug is survived by his partner, Vivian MacAlpine; first wife, Tamara Forsyth-Jacobsen; children, Kyra (& husband, Sasha), Keith, Jamie and Jan; grandchildren, Liv and Luca; sisters, Carol and Holly; and nieces and nephews.

Per his wishes, Doug was cremated and half of his ashes will be buried in his hometown of Niagara Falls and half will rest in his beloved Nelson.

Douglas specifically did not want a somber or formal affair so there will be a raise-your-glass celebration of life, held on Saturday, October 28, 2017 from 3 p.m.-5:30 p.m. at the Adventure Hotel Pub, one of his haunts as the Old Lord Nelson.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Doug’s name to the Friends of the Family Foundation which he passionately supported. www.nelsonfriendsofthefamily.com
