Brent Douglas McComb

October 9, 1942 – August 2, 2017

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our wonderful husband, father, gramps, uncle and brother.

Brent passed away peacefully in Nelson, BC after suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Jane, brothers John (Wendy), Bruce (Jo), Scott (Liz), sister Margie (Marty), children Shannon (Dave), Jeremy, Kate (Dan), and grandchildren Brenna, Teigan, Kieran, Alexa, Chelsie, Sutton, and Hunter. He is predeceased by his parents Mary and Ivan and his nephew Michael.

Born and raised in Vancouver, Brent took great pride in being a “Kits Kid”. As a boy, he was active with the scouts, earning the Queen’s Scout Award, the highest youth award achievable. He attended UBC, graduating with a Bachelor of Physical Education degree in 1968. He and Jane were married the same year and immediately moved to Nelson. A popular teacher at Trafalgar school for his entire career, he retired in 2000 after 32 years.

Brent and Jane loved raising their children in Nelson and cherished the many adventures they had together. An avid outdoorsman, Brent enjoyed skiing, tennis, golf, camping, and ATVing with friends and family. He was also a long-time and dedicated member of the IBTC. Following retirement, he embraced his role as “Gramps” and traveled the globe with Jane, including stops throughout Europe, Australia, and North America.

Brent’s family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the loving and compassionate staff at Mountain Lakes Senior Community as well as Dr. Noiles and Dr. Janz.

A celebration of life will take place October 7, 2017, location to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of British Columbia would be appreciated.
