MacAskill, Helen Gail

Helen Gail MacAskill (nee Hancock) was born in Summerside PEI, into a family of ranchers and musicians.
She was a flight attendant with Maritime Central Airlines until her marriage. She lived in cities across Canada with her family, then moved to Nelson when Kevin retired. Gail loved flora and fauna and meeting people, travelling with Kevin to more than thirty countries.
Shewas known for her great baking and sense of humour, now dearly missed.
Gail passed away at the Mountain Lake seniors’ residence after a long illness.
She is pre-deceased by parents Lowell and Rita Hancock, and sister Judy. Gail is survived by her husband Kevin, her children Heather and Bonnie (Mark), grandchildren Adrian and Ian, sister Myrna (Mel), brother John (Judy), and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Gail’s family would like to sincerely thank the wonderful stay at Mountain Lake for their support, care, and kindness during her time there, plus all who visited her and gave their support.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Nelson United Church, 602 Silica St., on Monday Dec. 23 at 11 am. Many thanks for donations in Gail’s memory, to The Alzheimer Society, The SPCA, or a charity of choice, in lieu of flowers.
