Koehle, Frederick George (Fritz)

It is with great sadness that the family of Frederick George (Fritz) Koehle announces his passing Wednesday April 26, 2017 at the age of 89.

Born to Fred and Lena Koehle in Regina SK November 21, 1927 (2nd boy of 4).  He grew up in Trail, playing hockey and was the stick boy for the Trail AAA Juniors BC Champions.  Moved to Nelson when he was 15 where Fritz and his three brothers Red, Bob & Gerry curled, played baseball, boxing and of course hockey! 

At the age of 20 Fritz and his father Fred started Koehle & Son sheet metal & heating, Fritz has been in many of the Nelson homes over their 47 years of business.  Fritz married Juanita Dell (Dolly) Smiley Sept 2, 1949 they spent 64 years together raising a family of 4 kids, 8 grandkids and 5 great grandkids. 

Fritz and Dolly loved to golf, together they worked at starting a Junior Hockey Team the first in Nelson and with Fritz coaching in 1968 the Nelson Jr Maple Leafs won the Cyclone Taylor Cup BC Champions Undefeated.  Fritz continued coaching hockey for many years, he also enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. After 4 years of Dolly’s passing Fritz is back with his true love of life, Fritz and Dolly are back together.

Fritz will be forever remembered by his loving children Wendy (Roger), Guy (Lorna), Karan (Doug), Jody (Vicki) grandchildren Michelle (Darren), Cheyenne (Joy), Scott, Nichole (Matt), Kristy, Kyle, Colton, Joscelyn, great grandchildren Greg, Beau, Kelbey, Tess & Kylan.  He will also be remembered by his surviving brother Bob (Rosina), sister in-laws Merla, Vi, Nina & Jeanne.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers family & friends may make donation to the Mountain Lakes Seniors community, 908 – 11th Street Nelson V1L 7A6. 

They took good care of Fritz for the last year.  Thank you all for your love & support.
