Bridge, Evelyn Joan

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Evelyn Joan Bridge on August 29th, 2021, at the age of 77 in Winlaw BC were she was living with her friend/partner John Minnaert.

She is survived by sons Leroy, Charles, Stanley and Dean Bridge, daughters Rosemarie Roger (partner Robert Bett), Marilyn Bridge (partner Cory Smith), 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, cousins, and her sister in-law Inez Root. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Harold Bridge, father Victor Hurst, mother Evelyn Hurst, sister Joan Scholz, brother Victor (Sonny) Hurst and grandson Derrick Smith.

Evelyn was born September 24th, 1943. She grew up in Slocan BC on the Hurst family farm. There, she worked in the family store/gas station where they sold fresh baked bread, ice cream, among many other things.

Evelyn and Harold were married August 22nd, 1964, in Slocan BC. A few years later they bought property in East Arrow Park. Soon after that, they opened Bridge’s Greenhouse where they spent 20 years producing beautiful flowers, vegetables, and fruit for sale in the greenhouse. They also travelled to many markets; one of their favorites was Hill’s Garlic Festival.

Evelyn enjoyed spending time with family and friends, crafting, playing bingo, working on word puzzle books, and listening to music, especially live bands. Evelyn always had a smile that was very infectious.

Evelyn will be missed by all that knew her. She will live on in our hearts forever.
