Lamb, Kenneth Bernard

Kenneth (Ken) Bernard Lamb passed away on August 26, 2014 after a short illness. He was born in Vancouver, BC on January 2, 1936 and resided in Nelson since 1964. Ken was predeceased by his parents Bob and Evelyn Lamb, his brother Wayne, daughter in law Lea Cousineau and infant son Michael. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Shawn, children Monica (Matthew) Lamb-Yorski, Francis, Clare (Brent) Littlejohn, Pauline, Stephen (Heather Cameron) Lamb, Rebecca (Vern) Schram,
twenty- three  grandchildren, his brother Richard, and long-time family friend Marianne Tremblay.

Edwards, Nancy Lee

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nancy Lee Edwards(nee Zimmerman) on August 18, 2014 at the age of 56 years. Nancy was born on May 8, 1958 in Nakusp, BC to John and Margaret Zimmerman, the 7th of 14 children.

Freno, Louis William (Bill)

Louis William Freno (Bill), 55, of Glastonbury, beloved husband of Cheryl, died suddenly, Sunday July 13, 2014 at home. 

Born June 12, 1959 in Nelson, BC, Canada, son of Sonja and the late Louis William Freno, Sr.

Billy got his welding tickets (B & C), his gas ticket and his interprovincial sprinkler ticket after graduating from Grade 12 at L.V. Rogers High School in Nelson.

He owned our own business from 1993 until 2002, subcontracting to Trainor Mechanical. The family moved to Victoria in late 2002, after selling the Balfour house.

After a yearlong battle with cancer in which she showed a strength and courage so strong it gave everyone around her the strength to cope and carry on.

It’s taken a year to put my thoughts to paper…. an entire year since our Dad passed. In an early morning hour on August 21, 2013 with his beloved cat, BG, sleeping by his side and in his own bed, in his own home with me, his daughter, in the upstairs bedroom, Bob McGhie drifted into eternal sleep.

Jameson, Sydney Ernest

Sydney Ernest Jameson was born October 23 1932 in Crawford Bay B.C. He was the second son born to George and Gwen Jameson.

Syd grew up and attended school in Crawford Bay, until grade 11. He took his grade 12 in Creston and graduated from Prince Charles High school. While he was growing up, Syd spent much of his time outdoors.

Thompson, Royce George

ROYCE THOMPSON MAY 7, 1935 – AUGUST 18, 2014

Royce passed away on August 18, 2014 in Kootenay Lake Hospital. He was born in Nipawin, Sask. He moved to the lower mainland at the age of 6,where he excelled at sports. In 1966 he married Celia and moving to Kamloops in 1975. They moved to Nelson in 1993.

Dehnel, Walter Kurt

Walter Kurt Dehnel died Tuesday) August 12, 2014, in Nelson, BC.

Walter was born in Berlin, Germany April 19, 1936, to parents Olga and Rudolph.

His early childhood years were marked by serious traumas of war, yet he was fortunate to have been raised in a loving and caring family where the merits of humour were appreciated.

Funeral Service will be at the Thompson Funeral Service Chapel, 613 Ward Street, on Monday, August 18, 2014, at 11 a.m..

There will be a public viewing at 10 a.m.

The Dehnel family asks friends to please join them for refreshments and light snacks at The Adventure Hotel (also known as The New Grand, and formerly The Lord Nelson) from 12:30-2:30 p.m. following the service.
