ZIERATH, Lois Bertha

September 6, 1951 to February 17, 2017

Lois Bertha Zierath (nee Cropley) was born on September 6, 1951 in Edmonton, Alberta.  At age 5 she moved from Barrymore, Alberta to Williams Lake, BC where she graduated from Columneetza High School in 1969.  She worked at the Bank of Montreal in Williams Lake and had her first daughter, Melinda, in 1971.

Peter Steven Peto, formerlyvfrom Vernon, BC passed away suddenly at his home invBonnington, BC on Wednesday, Februaryv15th, 2017 aged 70.

He was predeceased byvhis parents, Theresa and Steven Peto and byvhis wife, Judy Gurney. Peter is survived by hisvpartner, Linda Mahoney and family: Jason Weirvof Medicine Hat, AB, Carsen Weir (ShaunaRobertson) of Nelson, BC, Tyler Weir (Michelle Spani) of Victoria, BC and granddaughters, Maia and Morgan Robertson-Weir.

Weisbrich (nee Morrison), Melody

Melody Weisbrich (nee Morrison) unexpectedly passed away on February 14, 2017 in Silverton B.C.

“Mel” as she was affectionately known by friends and family was a loveable force of nature. She expressed her love to her friends and family unabashedly and unconditionally. She was a sensitive soul who loved to give of herself in so many ways.

Filbert, Len

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Len Filbert on Feb 14, 2017 after a short but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Len was born in Brightstone Manitoba, but his many travels lead him to Nelson in 1983.

Survived by his loving wife Catherine of 50 years, his children Karen, Carol, Dorothy (Brent) and John and cherished granddaughters Brettiney and Danielle. Also survived by his sisters Connie (Jim) and Linda (Elliot) of Winnpeg, brother-in-law Jim (Bonnie) of Langley and their families.

It is with deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of David (Dave) Oswald on February 2nd, 2017. He will truly be remembered for his wonderful sense of humour, great advice, as well as being a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Dave was always a pillar to the family and was there for all of us when we needed help.

Pedersen, Ove

Ove Pedersen

March 2, 1930 – February 2, 2017

Ove Pedersen died peacefully at Kootenay Lake Hospital holding the hand of his wife of 63 years, Alice Pedersen (nee Peet). Thanks to the nurses and doctors who cared for him, especially Bonnie, Lori, and Nicole, and Dr. MacKay. Thanks also for the excellent care Ove received in the Trail ICU.

Nyst (Mieke), Maria Catherina

Maria Catherina Nyst (Mieke) 1940-2017

Mieke (Maria) Nyst (Akkerman) died peacefully on February 2, 2017.  Mieke was born in Arnhem (Netherlands) in 1940.  In 1944 she experienced the horrors of war when the battle of Arnhem erupted.  Later on she grew up to become a schoolteacher.  She met and married Hubert Nyst and shortly thereafter in 1966, they decided to immigrate to Canada where Marianne, Robert and Michelle were born.

Burgess, Dale

Dale Burgess - A longtime resident of Ymir and Salmo.

Dale was born in Windsor, Nova Scotia, January 14, 1945. At the age of 19 he made the long trip across the Providences to Ymir.

Dale was a hardworking man and held different jobs including logging, mining, road building, and retired from ATCO Lumber. His passion was running equipment and if it had tracks or tires he could run it.

HALL, Martin

On January 23, 2017 Martin (Marty) Hall passed away peacefully in Nelson, British Columbia after 78 inspirational years that brought joy and comfort to all those who were part of his life. An amazing father, husband, brother, son and friend, Marty’s warmth and work ethic ensured he left this earth with no enemies or anyone disliking him.
