Another music festival.

Unfortunately, another death.

A 24-year-old woman from Leduc, Alta., is the latest festival goer to succumb to drugs as the female died from a suspected overdose at the Boonstock Music Festival near Penticton,

Penticton RCMP Const. Kris Clark said officers responded to a report of a fatal overdose at the Boonstock Festival shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday.

At the recent Pemberton Music Festival, 21-year-old Nick Phongsavath of Regina died. No foul play was detected in the death of the university student.

The Boonstock Festival’s website said “we learned that one of our guests at the Boonstock Music Festival became distressed while dancing at one of our stages. Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, she tragically passed away at the Penticton Regional Hospital.”

The Facebook message went on to say:

“We are deeply saddened by this news and we know that our communities will band together and keep her and her loved ones in our thoughts.

Penticton RCMP remain concerned there may be more incidents at the event after officers discovered that two other people were in critical condition due to suspected drug overdoses.

“The Penticton RCMP have a very real concern for public safety at this event and fear there may be further overdose deaths if attendees do not take steps to safeguard their own health,” Clark said in a written statement.

Penticton RCMP and the BC Coroners Service are investigating the woman’s death.
