Williams Lake RCMP release footage of armed robbery at local BMX park

Williams Lake RCMP has release video footage of a robbery of a BMX bike Monday afternoon at the Boitanio Skate Park.

The robbery happens at approximately 9 minutes, 45 seconds on the YouTube video.

Williams Lake RCMP were in the detachment parking lot at approximately 4:40 p.m. Monday, when one of the officers was approached by frantic youth who said that his friend had just been robbed of his BMX bike.

Officers immediately converged on the area but were unable to locate the possible suspects.

RCMP said information provided to police was that a group of six males were in the park when the victim was approached by three of them.

The suspect allegedly pulled out what appeared to be a silver coloured hand gun held in his left hand and pointed it at the victim telling the youth the bike was now his.

RCMP said the bike is described as; a red and black MacNeil BMX style last 5 digits of the serial number are 82044.

The suspect is described as an indigenous male approximately 5’9 high, wearing a camouflage hoodie.

The other suspect the bike was handed too is also an indigenous male who was wearing a black and grey sweater.

Victim Services has been referred to the affected parties.

The Williams Lake RCMP is asking anyone who may have witnessed this incident or have information on the suspect or location of the stolen bike to please call the local Detachment at 250-392-6211.
