West Van, Pentictonite joins Nelson Police Department

The Nelson Police Department is getting an new officer as Lisa Schmidtke joined the force following a swearing in ceremony Thursday at the Nelson Courthouse.

Schmidtke come to the Heritage City force after serving with distinction for 11 years with the West Vancouver Police Department. 

Schmidtke’s previous service was comprised of assignments within the Community Services Unit, the Forensic Identification Unit and general duty patrol work. 

Schmidtke graduated from secondary school in Penticton, and possesses a bachelor’s degree in anthropology.  She is soon to complete her BCIT Technology Certificate in Forensic Sciences. 

Schmidtke is no stranger to the Kootenays as she previously lived in Nelson and was employed in the hotel services industry for that period.

Schmidtke’s husband is currently employed in Nelson with the Canada Post Corporation, and together they have two school age children.

The Schmidtke’s are very pleased to relocate to Nelson to raise their family and engage in the area’s outdoor pursuits.
