UPDATED: Snowfall Warning ends, Alert continues for Paulson Summit, Kootenay Pass

Environment Canada has ended its Snowfall Warning for the Boundary, West Kootenay, but continues to advise drivers of an alert from Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass.
“A frontal system will move across the B.C. interior this evening bringing up to 20 cm of snow to higher elevations of Highway 3 from Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass. The snow will ease late this evening as the front moves further east.”
Snowfall total amount of 15 to 20 cm is expected.
Drivers should prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions as visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.
“Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.”

Snowfall Warning for Boundary/West Kootenay
The balmy fall weather is about to change for the Boundary/West Kootenay as Environment Canada has issued a Snowfall Warning for the region, with amounts expected in the 15 to 20 cm range.
“A frontal system will move across the B.C. interior today bringing up to 20 cm of snow to higher elevation communities of West Kootenay region as well as Highway 3 from Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass,” Environment Canada said.
“The warm front will start things off this morning with light accumulations. The snowfall rate is expected to increase in the afternoon with the passage of the cold front.”
Environment Canada said the snow will ease Tuesday night.
However, drivers should prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.
