UPDATED: Most Nelson Hydro customers have power restored following wind storm

Hydro crews have restored power to most of the affected areas after working feverously following a wind storm early Wednesday morning.

Nelson Hydro source told The Nelson Daily power to Sproule Creek, including Vixen Road, has been restored along Grohman Community.

Johnstone Road to the end of Six Mile Road is slated to be restored by late afternoon or early evening.

Nelson Hydro would like to thank customers for their patience during the power outages.

Nelson Hydro crews work to restore power following wind storm

Nelson Hydro said a significant wind storm has cause power downed trees and power outages to areas in and around the Heritage City.

The storm happened late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning resulting in multiple trees taking power lines down. 

“Keeping safety as their number one priority, Nelson Hydro crews, and two contractor crews, are working to restore power to all customers as soon as possible,” the Nelson Hydro press release said.

  OWER OUTAGES – AREAS AFFECTED:

  • Johnstone Road to the east end of Six Mile — two main lines damaged by downed trees, expected to be back Wednesday or early evening
  • Sproule Creek (including Rixen Road) — Tree broke power line on Wills Road, expected to be back Wednesday or early evening
  • Grohman Community — multiple trees down, expected back on Thursday.
