UPDATED: Investigation continues regarding fatal snowmobile accident near Golden

RCMP confirm that a 30-year-old woman and an 11-year-old girl, both from Miami, were part of a guided tour Wednesday in the North Bench Trail area near Golden.

Police have not released any information surrounding the cause of the accident, but confirm the two were travelling on the same machine. 

The pair were part of a snowmobilie group of 10 on a guided tour by Rocky Mountain Riders Snowmobile Tours and Rentals of Golden.

RCMP and the BC Coroners Services are investigating the cause of the accident.

Snowmobile Fatality near Golden

Golden RCMP confirmed Wednesday that two people from the United States have died in a snowmobile accident near west of the the Southeast BC City.

RCMP said in a media release that just after 12:00 p.m. MST (March 28, 2018), Golden-Field RCMP were notified that a snowmobile incident had occurred in a back country area west of Golden.

Police can confirm that a 35-year-old female and an 11-year-old female, both from Miami, Florida, have died and that the two were part of a guided snowmobile tour.

Police are still on-scene investigating the incident.
