UPDATED: Interior Health identifies two additional COVID-19 exposure locations in Kelowna

Interior Health in a media release Sunday said further testing of individuals who gathered at various Kelowna locations between June 25 and July 6 has identified additional locations in Kelowna where individuals may have been exposed to COVID-19.
Interior Health said individuals who visited the two other locations on the dates noted are asked to self-monitor themselves closely for symptoms of COVID-19 and get tested if they have those symptoms:
- Cactus Club, #1-1370 Water St., from July 3-6.
- Pace Spin Studio, #5-1717 Harvey Ave, Kelowna from July 2, 4, 5, 7, 8 and 9.
Interior Health said as a reminder, on July 11, Interior Health (IH) directed individuals who attended gatherings at the following locations on the dates noted to self-isolate and monitor themselves closely for symptoms:
- Discovery Bay Resort (1088 Sunset Dr., Kelowna) from July 1 to 5.
- Boyce Gyro Beach Lodge (3519 Lakeshore Rd., Kelowna) on July 1.
Public health contact tracing is under way, and where possible, IH is reaching out directly to individuals who have been exposed.
Anyone who participated in events in the Kelowna downtown and waterfront area between June 25 and July 6 should monitor closely for symptoms of COVID-19 and get tested if they develop symptoms.
Individuals seeking a test should call their primary care provider (family physician or nurse practitioner) or the closest Interior Health community testing and assessment centre.
UPDATED: COVID-19 contact tracing identifies two specific locations in Kelowna
Interior Health has updated its previous public service announcement regarding COVID-19 exposure in Kelowna.
Interior Health said Saturday that contact tracing and further investigation of current COVID-19 cases has allowed Interior Health (IH) to identify two specific locations in Kelowna where individuals may recently have been exposed to COVID-19.
IH is urging anyone who attended private gatherings at the following locations on the dates noted to self-isolate and monitor themselves closely for symptoms of COVID-19, and get tested if they have symptoms:
- Discovery Bay Resort (1088 Sunset Dr., Kelowna) from July 1 to 5.
- Boyce Gyro Beach Lodge (3519 Lakeshore Rd., Kelowna) on July 1.
As a reminder, on July 10, Interior Health notified the public of potential COVID-19 exposures in the Kelowna downtown and waterfront areas between June 25 and July 6. We are urging anyone who visited these areas to self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 and get tested if they develop.
Potential COVID-19 exposures in recent Kelowna gatherings — Interior Health
In a media release Friday, Interior Health is advising individuals who attended gatherings in the Kelowna downtown and waterfront areas from June 25 to July 6 that they may have been exposed to COVID-19.
Interior Health said this advisory comes after IH’s communicable disease unit (CDU) has been made aware of a number of positive COVID-19 cases attending private gatherings and visiting businesses (restaurants, bars, etc.) over these dates.
Interior Health said the concern is events that happened on Canada Day and holiday weekend events.
Public health contact tracing is underway and, if IH is made aware of potential exposures to COVID-19, our CDU will be reaching out directly to ask those individuals to self-isolate for 14 days.
However, given the number of cases and potential locations involved, we are urging anyone who participated in events over these dates to monitor closely for symptoms of COVID-19.
The symptoms of COVID-19 include the following:
- Fever
- Cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Loss of sense of taste or smell
- Other milder symptoms may include: runny nose, fatigue, body aches (muscles and joints aching), diarrhea, headache, sore throat, vomiting and red eyes.
Anyone who develops COVID-19 symptoms is asked to get themselves tested for COVID-19. A list of testing and assessment centres is available here: https://news.interiorhealth.ca/news/testing-information/.
Testing is not recommended for people who have no symptoms. Individuals seeking a test should call their primary care provider (family physician or nurse practitioner) or the closest Interior Health community testing and assessment centre.
IH reminds everyone of the importance of following COVID-19 precautions:
- Stay home and avoid travel if you have symptoms, even mild ones.
- Maintain physical distancing (two metres apart) and use masks when distancing is not possible.
- Wash your hands regularly and do not touch your face.
- Do not plan or attend gatherings of more than 50 people. Limit gatherings to out of doors whenever possible.
Of the eight cases identified to date, six are in individuals who reside outside of IH. IH continues to work with other jurisdictions to determine the source of disease for these cases.
