UPDATED: Evacuation orders for five properties in the Granby Road area in the City of Grand Forks

The Regional District of Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) has issued evacuation orders for five properties in the City of Grand Forks.
These latest evacuations are for four homes on Granby Road and one home on Victoria Avenue immediately northeast of downtown Grand Forks. Residents are required to leave the affected areas immediately due to the immediate threat of flooding from the Granby River.
Evacuation orders for 13 properties in rural Grand Forks
The Regional District of Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) has issued evacuation orders for six properties on Beatrice Street in Johnson Flats and seven properties in Manly Meadows along Manly Meadows Road due to immediate threat from rising floodwaters. A full list of properties ordered evacuated is attached to this email.
Residents are required to leave the affected areas immediately and vacate the area by using local roads. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, no reception centre will be opened. Evacuees are encouraged to stay with friends or family if possible.
Evacuees will be contacted directly by British Columbia Emergency Support Services.
Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for the Boundary as heavy rain continues to fall across the RDKB region.
Warm temperatures followed by thunderstorms and continued rainfall in the Boundary will cause the Kettle River system to reach btweena five-year and ten-year return level by the afternoon of June 1, or a moderate flood risk for the region overall but high risk for low-lying properties in these two neighbourhoods in rural Grand Forks.
Water is expected to breach its banks in Manly Meadows and Johnson Flats prompting the EOC to issue these orders.
The Regional District of Kootenay Boundary received less rain than could potentially have fallen in the past 24 hours and temperatures are now expect to stay low with a drier stretch of weather coming in the next week.
The RDKB continues to monitor all creeks and rivers and track BC River Forecast Centre models and Environment Canada weather information. The RDKB Emergency Operations Centre is activated to Level 3 and is prepared for ongoing emergency response that may be required.
An EOC call centre has been set up for Boundary residents and is staffed from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. PT. The toll-free number for the call centre is 1-888-747-9119.
The RDKB warns everyone to stay away from the edges of watercourses and report any erosion or flooding to the Provincial Emergency Coordination Centre at 1-800-663-3456.
