UPDATED: Environment Canada updates Snowfall Warning Alert

Environment Canada has updated its Snowfall Alert, ending its warning for most of the West Kootenay but continuing it for the Boundary Region with total amounts of 10 to 15 cm expected.
(Wednesday) night, computer models shifted the track of the incoming Pacific front to the south, such that snowfall amounts will be a little lower than forecast yesterday,” Environment Canada said.
“As a result, warnings for Vernon, West Kootenay, Coquihalla Highway – Merritt to Kamloops and Highway 3 – Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass have been ended.”
Environment Canada said15 cm storm snowfall accumulation is expected for Similkameen, Highway 3 – Hope to Princeton via Allison Pass, Coquihalla – Hope to Merritt, southern Okanagan and the Boundary regions.
Environment Canada issues Special Weather Statement for West Kootenay, Boundary, Slocan Lake
Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for the West Kootenay, Boundary, Arrow & Slocan Lake regions thanks to a front moving in to the interior from the Pacific.
The front will pack snow for the Southern Interior on Thursday.
“The Pacific moisture will combine with a modified Arctic airmass to giving snow to many Southwestern Interior and Kootenay regions and highway mountain passes,” Environment Canada said.
“Snow will begin overnight Wednesday into Thursday morning with snowfall amounts of 5 to 15 cm expected by Thursday night before the snow tapers to flurries.”
Environment Canada said snowfall warnings may be issued for these regions later Wednesday once computer models come to a consensus on the track of the system.
The snow will slow driving on Highway 3, especially from the Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass.

Snowfall Warning for Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass
Highway driving at higher elevations on Highway 3 is going to be a little slower for commuters after Environment Canada issued a Snowfall Warning for Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass, including the Boundary, West Kootenay and Kootenay Lake regions.
Environment Canada is calling for snowfall, with total amounts of 20 to 25 cm is expected.
“A frontal system will continue to move across the Kootenays today, giving snow to higher elevation sections of Highway 3 from Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass,” Environment Canada said.
“Approximately 10 cm has fallen overnight with additional amounts of 5 to 10 cm expected today.”
Drivers are urged to prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.
