UPDATED: Environment Canada issues Special Weather Statement

Environment Canada said another strong winter storm will impact the BC interior with snow beginning this Thursday evening.
“The approaching storm will give widespread snow into the interior this evening,” the Environment Canada said.
“The main band of snow will shift northwards on Friday morning, allowing the snow to come to an end for communities in the Okanagan, South Thompson, and Kootenays. However over the Columbias, the central and northern interior the snow will continue all day.”
Environment Canada said the highest snowfall amounts are expected to be over the Bulkley Valley, McGregor, Yellowhead and Williston regions.
In addition there is a chance of freezing rain for the central interior as the band of snow pushes northwards on Friday morning.

Snowfall Warning for Boundary/West Kootenay
Environment Canada has issued a Snowfall Warning for Boundary/West Kootenay regions, with higher amounts expected on Highway 3, Kootenay Pass and Paulson Summit.
Snowfall amounts between 20 to 30 cm can be expected.
“A robust frontal system is sliding south over the Interior of BC,” said the Environment Canada website. “Light snow will begin (Monday) evening over West Kootenay and Kootenay Pass. Snow will intensify early Tuesday morning.”
Environment Canada said total snowfall accumulation over Kootenay Pass is expected to be 20 to 30 cm. For the West Kootenay region, the highest accumulations are expected over higher terrain and will amount to 20 to 30 cm storm total.
Environment Canada said the heavy snow is expected to ease overnight Tuesday.
The public is advised to stay off highways as poor weather conditions may contribute to transportation delays.
