It’s a scam that continues to make its rounds.

Nelson Police Department have recently received numerous complaints from the public regarding telephone calls being received from someone representing the Canada Revenue Agency and/or a collection agency.

The caller requests personal information (including Social Insurance Numbers) from the public.

The Nelson Police Department wishes to advise the public that these callers are not associated to the Canada Revenue Agency and have been confirmed to be a scam.

Nelson Police strongly encourages anybody receiving these telephone calls to not provide any personal information.

If any members of the public unwittingly provide any personal information or receive deceptive telemarketing, please contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501.
