Two Vernon women face drug trafficking and possession charges

Two Vernon women are facing cocaine trafficking and marihuana possession charges after a police dog search revealed a large quantity of crack cocaine, marijuana and oxycodone.

The Central Okanagan women were pulled over by a RCMP Traffic Services patrol team after the vehicle was observed travelling at a speed notably below the posted speed limit along Highway 3A near Princeton Friday (January 25) at around 8:35 p.m.

A sobriety check on a driver by officers uncovered a driver with an outstanding arrest warrant along with the discovery of a quantity of crack cocaine, marijuana and oxycodone.

The 23-year-old female driver and another adult woman, also 23, were taken into custody after a search of the vehicle by a police service dog Jet uncovered the hidden drugs inside the brown 2005 Pontiac Sunfire.

A search of the vehicle by the police dog resulted in the discovery of a small amount of marijuana found in the passenger compartment along with 95 separate packs of crack cocaine and quantity of pills believed to be oxycondone, found hidden in the trunk compartment.

Both Vernon women were taken into custody on drug trafficking and possession charges.
