Two Trafalgar students named winners of West Kootenay Regional Science Fair

Two Trafalgar Middle School students are off to Toronto for the Canada Wide Science Fair after winning the West Kootenay Regional Science Fair in Nelson April 2.
Junior students Miranda Sherell and Emma Borhi will be going to Toronto for the Canada Wide Science Fair May 14-21.
Sherell also won the Young Science Innovator Award for her experiment Does Colour Affect Flavour Perception?, and received a Yes Magazine subscription. Borhi won the Chevron Canada Limited Award for her experiment, How Fast Do Coffee Cups Biodegrade?
Abigail Cole of Central Education Centre won the Al Appleton Worksafe, while Amit Bhabra and Fernando Stenner of Trafalgar Middle School won the BC Hydro Power Smart Award.
Juniors Logan McKenzie and Braeden McRae of Trafalgar took the Chevron Canada Limited Award for their research project, Do Boys and Girls use the Same Electronic Device?, while Grade 5 student Zoe Crisfield of Blewett Elementary won the Federation of BC Naturalists Award for her research project Global Warming Cause and Effect.
Grade 5 Jesse Thurston of Blewett won the Association of Prof. Engineers and Geoscientists of BC Award for his project, Can You Drink the Ocean?
The West Kootenay Regional Science Fair for kids from school districts 20, 8, 51, 10 was held at Selkirk College in Nelson in conjunction with the Community Science Celebration, hosted by the Kootenay Association for Science and Technology (KAST), Science World and Selkirk College.
