Leanna Hanson-McCormick is one of many people who enter contests, but never wins.

That all changed for the Silver City resident when Hanson-McCormick was informed by Editor/Owner Bruce Fuhr she had won four tickets to Kokanee Mountain Zipline in The Nelson Daily Facebook contest.

“I was super excited,” Hanson-McCormick, a resident of Trail, told The Nelson Daily.

“I couldn’t believe it. Really, something I really wanted to do . . . and I won . . . I’m shocked.”

What’s better yet, there’s three remaining tickets for her boys, Cody, 18, Jonathan, 15, and Kye, 10.

“They’ve never been on the zipline and all wanted to go so this works out just perfect.”

Kokanee Mountain Zipline, located near Kokanee Creek Provincial Park 15 kilometers north of Nelson, is ready to open up shop on Year two of operations.

Starting from a spot off the mountain road to Gibson Lake and Kokanee Glacier Park, Kokanee Mountain Zipline offers adrenaline-filled tours with spectacular views of surrounding mountain ranges as well as shots of Kootenay Lake — with nearly a mile of total ziplines.

Skilled guides take care of everything for the rider, from transport up to the launch platform — clipping clients in and out the safety harness to make sure the time is unforgettable.

The Nelson Daily Editor/Owner Bruce Fuhr got together with the Manton Brothers, Todd and Jay, to offer the Facebook Contest.

And Leanna Hanson-McCormick is thankful to The Nelson Daily and Kokanee Mountain Zipline for the opportunity to enjoy the grand prize.

“I haven’t really thought that far in advance yet . . . I’m still kind of in shock,” said Hanson-McCormick when asked about making plans for book the ride.

Todd Manton at Kokanee Mountain Zipline said the longweekend in May is the official opening for the 2016 season.

However, with spring having sprung early, there may be weekend openings in April and early May and encourages zipline enthusiasts to check the website for updates.

But what is for sure is that online bookings opened March 31.

Check out the Kokanee Mountain Zipline website for more information on what appears to be another great season for zipline thrill seekers.
