A man who walked away from the Trail Daily Pavilion was apprehended by police without incident Tuesday near the 800 block of Front Street, Nelson Police said in a media release.

Nelson Police was requested by Trail RCMP Monday (July 29th) to be on the lookout for the male who walked away from the Trail Daly Pavilion against authority to have him assessed under the Mental Health Act.

“A Form 21 Directors warrant to arrest the male in order to facilitate his return was issued on that date,” Nelson Police said. “NPD received information from RCMP as well that the male was heading to Nelson and considered a risk to himself or others.”

Police said at approximately 10 a.m., members learned that the male’s vehicle was in the Nelson area and began efforts to locate and apprehend the male.

“At approximately 12:30 p.m. the male was located in his vehicle and arrested without incident in the area of the 800 block of Front Street,” the NPD release said.

Police said the male was transported to Kootenay Lake Hospital for transport back to the Trail Daly Pavilion.
