Trafalgar rocks South Okanagan Volleyball Tournament

Trafalgar Thunder swept past Okanagan Mission of Kelowna in two games to capture the South Okanagan Hornets Grade 7-8 Girl’s Volleyball Tournament this past weekend in Oliver.

Trafalgar was locked in from the opening serve of the tournament, finishing first overall after round robin action with wins over South Okanagan, Vernon Christian, Aberdeen Hall of Kelowna, Summerland and Okanagan Mission.

The Thunder continued their impressive play edging host South Okanagan 2-0 (25-16, 25-19) in semi final play before beating Mission 25-16, 25-18 in the final.

In boy’s action, Trafalgar lost in the final to Grand Forks Wolves in the best-of-three match — 25-19, 22-25, 15-9.

The Wolves had five Grade 9 players on the squad due to a lack of younger players in the school.

Trafalgar defeated South Okanagan, Vernon Christian, Seaton of Vernon and Kettle Valley before losing to Grand Forks.

Trafalgar got past Kettle Valley 25-11, 25-15 to advance to the final.

The Thunder girls include, Megan Bonikowsky, Atlyn Proctor, Niya Laktin,  Gianna Davidson, Lily Bennett, Addison Mowery,  Amelia Finley, Paityn Lake,  Neve Hamilton, Ava Anast, Shelbi Van Hellemond,  Nevaeh Marcum-McCormick and coach Staci Proctor.
