Minister of Small Business, Red Tape Reduction and Minister Responsible for the Liquor Distribution Branch Coralee Oakes has issued the following statement in honour of Craft Beer Month:

“B.C. Craft Beer Month is upon us! Throughout October, craft brewers and craft beer enthusiasts will come together to celebrate one of B.C.’s fastest-growing industries.

“For the sixth straight year, the Province will partner with the BC Craft Brewers Guild to dedicate the month of October to help British Columbians discover the outstanding craft beer products being created here at home – products that are quickly turning B.C. into Canada’s craft beer capital.

“In six years, B.C. has seen the number of craft breweries grow from 54 to 118 breweries provincewide, with more on the horizon. With the recent 25% mark-up reduction on craft beer, the Province has doubled down on its support of innovation, investment and expansion in the craft beer sector.

“This month, check out #BCBeerOTD and look out for special events, workshops and tap takeovers that will highlight made-in-B.C. craft beers, and stay tuned for some other exciting announcements.

“Craft beer is a growing part of B.C.’s cultural landscape and we will spend October celebrating its contributions to our province. Cheers!”
